The fastest way to get on someone’s hate list is to be an annoying nuisance and a very irritating passenger during the flight. Sadly many people don’t even realize that their habits can ruin some else’s day or is giving other people a headache.
Here are some tips to becoming a better passenger:
When Loading Luggage
There is only one bag space at the overhead luggage bin. When you put more than one, you are robbing other people of their space. If you have two luggage bags, then put the other one by your feet and avoid putting your jackets and other stuff in the luggage bin as well.
When Sleeping
Most people sleep in such a position that it becomes difficult for the neighbors and other passengers to function properly. Stretching legs to block the aisle, or putting your leg on the side of someone else’s seat or taking someone’s’ space for sleeping is strictly against the unwritten travelling rules.
When Boarding the Plane
Remember that lesson from your childhood about boarding the school bus? The same rules apply here. Make a queue, don’t push, don’t cut through and remain tolerant.
When Swapping Seats
If you wish to change seats then wait until after the flight has taken off. And if someone asks you to exchange seats so that they can sit next to the person they know or a family member, you should cooperate by allowing it, especially if kids are involved.
Keep Personal Items Close
If you wish to read a book during the flight or catch a sleep then make sure to keep your personal items in the bag with you. It is irritating for everyone when you keep standing up and opening the luggage bin to access your supplies again and again.
Most importantly, treat everyone with respect and calm or else tempers and bad attitude results in arguments and make the entire experience unpleasant.
