Heathrow’s expansion is expected to give a major boost to the job market, with an estimated 2, 700 opportunities to be created as a result.
With the investment of millions being planned for the supply chain of the airport, great job opportunities will dazzle the market with the Heathrow expansion plan. Around 2,700 jobs for architects, planning managers and engineers will be up for grabs in the market.
Just days after the Government gives an approval for the expansion of the airport, the upcoming Heathrow extension has already started attracting investments. The main plan involves the construction of a third runway on the airport.
Around 95% of the spending on the project’s procurement will be done with the cooperation of the British Supply Chain. Already, around £50m are in the process of being invested, till the end of next year.
The chief executive of Heathrow, John Holland Kayes, shared that the planned investment into the British supply chain, will give fruition to plans for an affordable and fair airport, which will also secure the expansion benefits for all of the UK.
The chief executive said that they plan to create many new job opportunities over the upcoming years, by working in collaboration with the new partners, as they work to deliver the new runway in Britain. Amongst the many organisations which pledged their interest in the third Heathrow runway, the TUC, Confederation of British Industry, and the British Chambers of Commerce, are the most notable.
The £17.6bn project also has some conditions linked with it, imposed by the Government. These include strict noise conditions, a night flight ban of six and a half hours, and a resident compensation fund of £2.6bn.
The plan still faces obstacles, as residents falling under the new runway path, the local authorities as well as the London’s Mayor with the Conservative MPs have all confirmed plans to oppose the project. The work will begin in 2021, with the runway to be opened by 2025.
